Jewelry Appraisal Services

A sales receipt is not sufficient to demonstrate the value of jewelry.

Whether you’ve just got engaged, or want to know how much a family heirloom is worth, a professional jewelry appraisal is essential to ensure your insurance provider has the best information about your jewelry in the event of a theft or loss.

Paul Christopher Abood is a Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) certification from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and is a member of National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (N.A.J.A.). All appraisals adhere to the USPAP (Uniform Standard of Professional Appraisal Practice) guidelines.

What is included in the appraisal?
An accurate and complete appraisal contains the following:

  • Photos with an overall description of the item(s).
  • Specific description information on all gems and precious metals.
  • Elements of special consideration to estimate value & provenance.
  • Measurements and overall weight of the item.
  • Quality grade and condition.
  • Type and weight of precious metals.
  • Type, number, measurements, estimated weights and quality grades of diamonds and gemstones.
  • Trademarks, hallmarks, or maker’s marks the jewelry.
  • Description of the specific grading instruments used and testing procedures.
  • Resume of appraiser’s qualifications.

How much does the jewelry appraisal cost?
We base our fee’s on time and complexity, and not a percentage of the value of the on the spot delivery.

Bridal Jewelry Appraisal Fees

This category would include jewelry items such as Engagement Rings, Bridal Sets, and Wedding Bands. A bridal set is two pieces that match. If the wedding band does not match the engagement ring they will be treated as separate items to be appraised.

Fashion Diamond Jewelry Appraisal Fees
This category is often referred to as accessory jewelry. This would include and diamond jewelry used for Fashion, adornment.

  • Diamond Stud Earrings – 50 minutes (+ $124.99)
  • Diamonds Rings with Multiple Stones – 40 minutes (+ $164.99)
  • Diamond Earrings with Multiple Stones (+ $139.99)
  • Diamond Bracelets - 40 minutes (+ $164.99)
  • Diamond Necklace – 40 minutes (+$124.99)
  • Diamond Necklace with Multiple Stones – 55 minutes (+164.99)

Pearl Jewelry Appraisal Fees
This category includes all pearl jewelry.

  • Pearl Necklaces All Lengths – 40 minutes (+ $144.99)
  • Pearl Rings - 40 minutes (+ $114.99)
  • Pearl Earrings – 40 minutes (+ $114.99)

Watches
This category includes all timepieces such as pocket watches men's and ladies watches with or without diamonds.

  • Pocket Watches with and without diamonds – 55 minutes (+ $174.99)
  • Men’s and Ladies Watches with and without Diamonds – 50 minutes (+ $174.99)
  • Men’s and Ladies Diamond Dial, Bezel and Bracelet – 55 minutes (+ $174.99)

Gold Jewelry
This category would include all gold, platinum or other precious metal jewelry items.

  • Plain Gold Rings – 30 minutes (+ $54.99)
  • Plain Gold Necklaces and Bracelets – 30 minutes (+ $54.99)
  • Plain Gold Charm Bracelets – 30 minutes (+ $54.99)
  • Designer Jewelry – 1 hour

Whether you're in the market for a new custom piece or would like to refresh an existing - PCJ is the jeweler for you. Services include:

What to Expect

Once the initial meeting is set, Paul will arrive to the location of your choice and bring along all materials needed. All you will need to provide is the piece(s) of jewelry that you are getting appraised. If you are contacting PCJ for custom design work then please bring any type of inspiration or existing pieces.
